In a previous article, csc@pilot.njin.net (Sean Casey) says: >Can anyone on here report that niacin worked for them? > Yes, on two occasions I tried it on doses of 375 and 500 ug of LSD respectively that came from a clinical source. In both cases I was quite calm when I took the niacin. I took 1 gram the first time, and 1.5 grams the second. The flushing effect, which I had experienced from taking niacin by itself in earlier tests, started before I noticed any other effects. The LSD experience grtadually became less intense, less immediate, and hallucinations (colours and edges) became duller, and eventually faded almost entirely. Since it was rather lete at night on each occasion, I went to sleep in both cases after about one hour. I took the niacin in each case about 3 to 4 hours after taking the LSD, in order to see if it would work when the LSD effects were at there maximum. Prior to these tests I had taken LSD more than a hundred times, and my experiences with LSD were as predictable as they are likely to be (that is, I would have no reason for fear or worry, and could function normally with little difficulty if required to -- e.g., handle an emergency or drive a car if needed, or deal with authorities or disturbed people). I can't say how it would affect a less experienced person, but I would not hesitate to try it if nothing like Valium were around, and someone felt they wanted to abort a trip. I shoudl remark that the effect of the trip more or less dissolving was not aestheitcally pleasant, but it was not unpleasant either, unlike my experience trying to abort a trip with chlorpromazine, which was very effective, but mental and physically distressing. I also can't say what the effects might have been had I had street LSD of an unkonown strength and quality, but I've no reason to think they would havbe been much different. -- --------------------------------------------------- John Collier: ag659@freenet.carleton.ca
