Gather round, if ye dare, and hear a story of harrowing
gastric distress, of a valiant sailor laid low by a vile brew known as
Gaiahuasca. A tale so awefull that the mere retelling threatens to make bile
rise in me poor gullet.
Still with me? Then sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of
a fatefull trip....
The Materials:
3 gm Syrian Rue, ground fine, swallowed straight, chased with water
(35 min. later) ~20 gm Psychotria Viridis, prepared as per Ott (3X extracted
with lemon juice/water, no prolonged boiling)
40 minutes after eating the seeds, started feeling stoned and heavy,
slightly numb and dizzy.
30 min. after that, puked it all up. Felt decent after that, and hoped
that would be the end of the nausea. Wrong.
Spent the next 3 hours alternately retching, and lying on the floor.
When I wasn't actually heaving, I felt OK- very relaxed, fairly comfortable
yet no psychedelic effects were noted- the ceiling may have crawled a
little, but I was more in a trance state. However, when ever I moved much,
the nausea would kick in. I think I actually slept for a few minutes. Woke
up with a shock in the darkened room to realize I was heavily tripping.
Major trails, unlike I'd ever seen- my vision was almost completely obscured,
and overlaid with patterns like ripples on water. Unfortunately, this distortion
caused more nausea, and I decided I'd be better off lying back down. Drifted
in and out of sleep for the rest of the night, and felt downright yucky for most
of the next day.
It would be easy to blame the Syrian Rue for this, tho' I'd ingested it
as tea as part of a Desmanthus experiment before with only the slightest of nausea.
Perhaps the whole seeds are harder on the system. I also wonder if, despite
Ott's advice, boiling the solution for a while might drive of some unknown
volatile sick-making compounds. I was prepared to deal with some puking,
but this was a lot more than I'd bargained for. All I know is my next efforts
will be directed towards extracting the smokeable free base.
Any comments, suggestions, or advice would of course be welcome,
xxxxx
