Salvia Info From an Expert in Germany

>I too am very curious as to why "some" people are able to walk into
>another world with S.d. while other get little to nothing. I and several
>friends have tried on several occasions in different setting to visit
>other worlds using S.d. only to get a very minor stupor-like buzz.

I have was able to conduct tests with about 100 people or was told about results by them. It seems that

- it takes often a few tries, until the effect is really exprienced.

- 20 Percent won't feel noticeable effects, few of them will experience something after some more tries.

- Chewing-sucking helps more to become aquainted with the effect than smoking leaves repeatedly.

"in different setting"; the only way I've had any effects (which are very interesting) is to take it lying down, no light, no sound (yes, no music), then relax, loosen your mind, and sort-of wait for it, or even "seduce" it. Any exterior stimulii chase it away.

I back the lying down and no light, but had also very impressive opto-acustical phaenomenas when taking Salvia with headphones on and some "ethno" music. (I use didgeridoo-tapes.) I saw one, for example a half-desert-like landscape and all the sounds had very distinct locations within in this landscape, from where they came. It was a real 3-Dimensional experience.

Also, it took several times for me before I noticed any significant effects.

I had tried blended leaves with water a few times before without any effect. Smoked leaves next, and was really overhelmed, but it was too short. Then tried chewing-sucking six, later eight leaves. Nothing. Then 20. Here is, what I wrote about it two years ago:

....... After reading xxxxxx's description of a Salvia experience by chewing, I tried it also, as I was not fully satisfied with the effects of smoked Salvia. [too short lasting]

I have tried before to blend leaves with water and to drink it, it produced almost no noticeable effects. So I forgot about this way.

Two weeks ago I have read some new remarks about the chewing-sucking (McKenna, Ott) and tried again. 6 leaves, a second time 8 leaves, wrong setting, very weak effects.

Lastly I have read xxxxxx's description and past night I gave it a try with 18 large leaves. WHOW ! I doubt if I will ever smoke her again. The first ten minutes nothing. Then suddenly, within one minute, but really overwhelming. I tried to tell my wife about it - but could not really speak, was too amazed, just uttering "strong, soo great". My inability to speak amused me suddenly - I started to laugh, laugh, laugh - I had to bury my face into the pillows, not to wake my kids. Sometimes, when smoking, I experienced this also, but not in this intensity an d dura tion - full five minutes of nonstop, very powerfull laughter !

With closed eyes I saw architecture - like a big oriental palace, a large, endless hall with beautifull arcs and all was in a strange blue-grey light.

Then I remembered xxxxxx''s report - remembered this "becoming a plant". And the same moment it happened to me. I turned into a tree, a tree with a bark like oak in one way - many plateaus and valleys, but the plateaus of the bark smooth, not rough. And I felt thru this bark; it wa s a sensit ive organ and I felt like a tree feels. (I know it sounds odd; but when it happened, there was no doubt that a tree feels that way.) Then I sensed the presence of something else - or, better *somebody* else.

It was all accompanied by strong emotions, but I luck the terms to describe them.

At this point my wife beside me attracted my attention (in fact the effect turned from entheogen to that of a strong aphrodisiac). Wrong setting; next time I will leave without somebody laying on my side, so that I can go undistracted further.

I have experience with most common entheogens (no access to DMT until now, but most other drugs) and Salvia, chewed/sucked is clearly my favourite. In the moment I can not imagine something like a "bad trip" on salvia, but this would be against any experience, which says, that every strong entheogen could produce a bad trip; even Cannabis can. Something else I like very much are the strong emotions it brings out and the fact, that it lasts only one hour.

One thing, which really surprised me, was that I'm usually not very accessible to suggestions. People told me, for example, that catnip produces euphoric states, I even read it. Tried it, nothing. The same with other plants. So I'm not a placebo-type of person. ......

The methode used: 18 large leaves (about 14 cm, without the stem) rolled into two "cigars". Put it in your cheeks. Chew two or three time, to crack few cells open. Suck the juice, do not swallow right away. Keep in mouth at least four or five minutes. Repeat, until the cigars don't contain juice any more. Rapid onset of effects after eight to ten minutes, peaking 20-30 minutes, then fading slowly until one is back after about one hour. Opening eyes interrupts, closing resumes.

Side/aftereffects: None reported in two years, except:

- Often relaxed afterglow the next day, people just feel very good and peaceful.

- Very heavy use in a short period of time (6-8 times every second day or more) lowers the border between conscious and subconsciuos. Few "Flashes", lasting 1/10 of a second of long forgotten situations occured. Very realistic, including smell, sound, revival of the whole situation for short.

- It's very BITTER medicine ;-)

No recreational value, all people I know tend to use it infrequently by themselves.
