No I don't think you can smoke plain desmanthus rooots .I've tried making
an extract of alkaloids from 2 oz. from d.i. roots following Jim de
Korne's reciepe in his book Psychedelic Shamanism and got absloutely ZERO
results; except for a rotten taste in my mouth after smoking about a gram
of the brown GOO. Either I did something wrong in the process or two
ounces is not enough for an extract or of the Jungle's roots are  not
potent or de korne's receipe is incomplete. I DONT KNOW DO YOU?

I hope you have better luck with De Korne's incomplete receipe because I
just blew about 70 bucks following his directions for extraction using
Desmanthus Illinoiensis and ended up with about a  gram of brown gooey goo
that DID NOT
produce the desirable results AT ALL!!!! I slow simmered 2 ounces of
Desmanthus from  Of The Jungle in an Acetic acid bath, then defatted with
Trichloroethane (aka methyl chloroform), basified with baking soda and
then extracted with Naptha, the naptha layer was siphoned off after 3x in
3 weeks and evaporated, the GOO looked right, tasted awful when smoked and
,again, did nothing to my mind or spirit. ANY INPUT OR COMMENTS ATRE
WELCOME!!!! MAYBE PHALARIS HAS A HIGH CONCENTRATION OF ALKALOIDS THAN
DESMANTHUS?????
